Breath Restoration and Performing Arts
Our emphasis on holistic and integrative care enhances our therapists' ability to address the impact of dysfunctional breathing pattern on many painful conditions, as well as performance abilities for athletes, musicians and vocalists. Weakness or dysfunction in the muscles that support normal breathing is associated with lower back pain and pelvic floor issues because of the important role breath plays in postural support and control.
With one-on-one consultation and treatment time included in every session, your physical therapist will take the time to analyze your breathing pattern to determine how it affects your movement and contributes to your symptoms. Utilizing a combination of manual therapy techniques to improve ribcage mobility, re-education to improve timing and coordination, and strengthening of the diaphragm, abdominal wall and intercostal muscles, you can optimize breath support and control for your daily activities, athletic pursuits or the performance of a lifetime!
Physical therapy for breathing dysfunction may be covered by insurance with your physician's referral and when utilized in the treatment of an injury.
